A student accused of sexually assaulting another student has been released from jail by a judge who called him a high-achieving student.

Ian Milaski, a 21-year-old resident assistant at the University of Florida, was released on his own recognizance after he was arrested and charged with battery and false imprisonment on August 29.

The victim said that Milaski was drunk and asked her to bring him water, but when she did, Milaski allegedly forced himself on her, trying to make out with her, and attempted to put his finger in her underwear.

Milaski has since been let out of jail after his lawyer filed a motion to reduce his $125,000 bond, stating he wished to be released due to his financial difficulties, and so he could complete his education on time. The motion also said that Milaski wished to help his parents prepare for Hurricane Dorian.

In a Facebook post, the victim wrote: On Saturday night I was sexually assaulted. I had left my room to help a drunk “friend” by bringing him water. I had known him for over a year and didnt think twice about going to his aid.

I walked him to his room and he forced himself on me and threw me onto his bed, disregarding my strong protests. I was able to get away before things got too far, but he followed me into the hall, picked me up, and forced me back into the room.

She continued: He demanded that I sleep with him that night, to which I protested again and again. I explicitly told him to stop, to let me go, and that I was leaving right away. He did not listen and held me there.
