A driver purposely swerved to hit an 11-year-old girl then walked up to her and said We all have to die sometime, police said.
Steven Becky, 19, was reportedly driving his Volkswagen Jetta down the wrong side of the road in a suburban neighborhood in Draper, Utah – then suddenly veered to hit the girl walking alongside her electronic scooter, according to witnesses.
Beckys car hit a landscape boulder and flipped following the collision. Afterwards, he reportedly ran up to the girl as she was sprawled on a nearby front lawn and said to her: We all have to die sometime, ABC reported.
Clark Santos lives in the neighborhood and told KXAN that his home security cameras captured the crash.
He said: I looked at it, reviewed it and I saw the whole thing happen. I saw the car coming from the left side of the road, which is unusual, coming straight at her, hit her, flipped her on the windshield and she landed right about here and then she just started screaming.
Police responded and arrested Becky, who allegedly told police that he purposefully hit the girl because she was white, KTSU reported.
He also told officers that he was under the influence of Xanax, marijuana, LSD, and psilocybin mushrooms.
