Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed he was making notes on Sir Alex Fergusons managerial style towards the end of his time as a player at Manchester United and has already been in touch with his former boss to discuss the job at hand.
The Norweigian arrives at a turbulent time in Manchester, with United 19 points behind bitter rivals Liverpool in the Premier League, 11 points off Chelsea in the final Champions League spot and with a fractured squad who had become divided under the former boss.
And Solskjaer admitted he will use some tips he picked up from Sir Alex in order to bring the club together once more.
He said in a press conference ahead of his first match against Cardiff this weekend: Hes influenced me with everything to be fair.
The way hes dealt with people the way he was manager of the club, how he kept 25 international players happy and hungry wanting to improve but also the staff in and around the place, hes been my mentor but I didnt understand early on hed be my mentor.
Towards the last, maybe the injury in 2003, I was making all the notes what he did in certain situations and Ive already been in touch with him, theres no one to get better advice from.
