Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has become the first squad member to send a public message to Jose Mourinho since he was sacked.

Mourinhos two-and-a-half-years at Old Trafford came to an end yesterday after he was informed by Ed Woodward in a one-on-one meeting that he had been fired.

Paul Pogba hastily deleted a scheduled post captioned: Caption this shortly after public confirmation that Mourinho had been sacked but until now no player had directly messaged Mourinho.

However, Lingard has become the first player to do so by taking to his Instagram page today.

Thank you for the widsdom, said Lingard.

Mourinho broke his silence today by insisting Manchester United will move on in his absence and that he will take a short break away from football.
