The Manchester United manager travelled to Brussels during the international break to watch the 2-0 victory despite Marouane Fellaini not making the squad and Romelu Lukaku pulling out of the match through injury.
It was later claimed that Mourinho was at the game to scout both centre-back Toby Alderweireld and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Axel Witsel.
However, Mourinho insists his visit to Belgium was not transfer related, but rather he wanted to speak to Lukaku after the striker required special treatment in Antwerp on his hamstring injury.
As I told the Belgian press, I went for the weather. Beautiful fog, something that I dont have here, so I went for the fantastic weather, Mourinho joked.
I went, fundamentally, to be with Lukaku, to feel him, to see his situation, his injury.
Roberto [Martinez] invited me to meet him, which I decided not to because I dont like to do disturb people before matches.
But I was with Roberto on the phone trying to feel, trying to understand the problem and evolution of the problem.
And of course I like to watch football. I was in London, couple of hours train, easy to go.
Lukaku has been passed fit for Uniteds Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday after undergoing rehabilitation on his hamstring injury at the Move to Cure clinic in Antwerp.
