West Indies expect Chris Gayle and Andre Russell to be fit for the World Cup clash with Australia on Thursday.

Destructive opening batsman Gayle was struggling with back pain during the Windies emphatic victory over Pakistan at Trent Bridge on Saturday.

Russell, meanwhile, may be used sparingly during this tournament due to his ongoing fitness concerns. The 31-year-old took two wickets in a devastating spell against Pakistan.

Asked about the duos fitness ahead of West Indies second World Cup match against Australia, captain Jason Holder said: Weve had a few days off [since the last game].

They [Gayle and Russell] have been recovering quite nicely. We expect both of them to hopefully be fit and ready to go tomorrow.

Weve still got some more time until the game tomorrow morning, so then well make a final decision in the morning.
