Theres no doubt in Paul Scholes mind over who he wants to win the Premier League title clash between defending champions Manchester City and Jurgen Klopps challengers Liverpool.

Its a potentially nightmare fixture for Manchester United fans, with their biggest rivals facing off against one another with the winner perhaps handed the momentum to lift the title.

Klopps men – who are unbeaten this season – will lead Pep Guardiolas side by 10 points if they inflict defeat upon the title holders at the Etihad on Thursday night, with City closing the gap to just four points if they come out on top, in a real table-topping six-pointer.

When the two sides were fighting for the title back in 2013/14 season, Scholes former team-mate Gary Neville famously quipped: Liverpool vs City is like choosing between two men to steal your wife!

But Scholes is of a completely different opinion and desperately wants to avoid seeing Liverpool win the first Premier League title in their history.

Asked whether picking a side to win on Thursday night was the lesser of two evils, he replied: No its not, I want City to win.

Scholes did concede that it should be a brilliant match, at least, while predicting City to come out on top.

Two great teams you have to say, he added. Both really great footballing, attacking teams. Having Fernandinho back, David Silva back, possibly [Kevin] De Bruyne, I think City will win.

While he expects City to win, Scholes heaped pressure on Liverpool by claiming theyre the favourites.

I think the recent run of form youd have to put Liverpool favourite, he said.

I know theyre going to City, a great football team, but just the way Liverpool have been playing and City have been defending, Liverpool are slight favourites.

But City have to win if theyre going to get anywhere near Liverpool. In March, April time its difficult to win games then so well see what Liverpool ad City can produce.
