Jorginho has lifted the lid on Maurizio Sarris superstitious nature which means the Chelsea manager will never be seen holding a match ball.
The Italian has taken the Premier League by storm with his slick, free-flowing style of football dubbed Sarri-ball as the Blues sit third in the table behind only Manchester City and Liverpool.
Sarri was intent on bringing Jorginho with him to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2018/19 campaign and the 26-year-old sealed a move from Napoli in mid-July after much speculation.
Jorginho dictated Napolis tempo under Sarri and the Brazilian-born Italy international has adjusted the English game effortlessly, pulling the strings from the heart of Chelseas midfield.
Its clear Jorginho and Sarri share a close bond and the midfielder has revealed his managers bizarre superstition on match days.
Its really easy to understand him you know, Jorginho told Chelseas official YouTube channel.
The way he seems, thats how he is. He has no secrets, hes a simple guy.
He has his… beliefs, his superstitions, as everyone has. For example, he wont touch the match ball ever
Even if were losing, the ball goes out and we need to get the ball back in play as fast as possible, he wont go near it, no way, he wont touch it.
Then there are other things too, but thats normal no?
Sarri underlined the importance of bringing Jorginho to Chelsea, stressing that the midfielder is his reference point on the pitch.
Jorginho, for me, was important because hes been with me for four years, Sarri explained.
Hes my reference point in terms of how I approach the team and vice versa.
Hes a player who perfectly suits my way of playing.
